Diane Von Furstenberg is a household name in the international fashion industry. She's a Belgium designer, author, mother, grandmother, dressed American women since the 70’s, and was the president and chairman of the CFDA for 13 years.
This Year Tribeca Festival is house of the world premiere of Tris Dalton and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s documentary Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge, a chronic about the celebrated fashion designer while going behind the scenes with Furstenberg herself as she gets ready for a museum exhibition showcasing her intense life’s work, along with interviews with friends like Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, and Fran Lebowitz. The cinematographic experience tour encompasses her glamorous life, marriage, wild nights at Studio 54, becoming a mother, and the fashion living legend, still in charge today.

Adventurous and creative
At the age of 77, she’s had a full life filled with extraordinary adventures and achievements, She studied at Madrid University before transferring to the University of Geneva to study economics, then She moved to Paris and worked as an assistant for the fashion photographer's agent Albert Koski, lately she moved again to Italy as an apprentice with the textile manufacturer Angelo Ferretti collecting knowledge about the fashion industry, and produced her first silk jersey dresses.
She married German Prince Egon von Frustenberg and became a young mom, this status lasted just one year due she realized she wanted to pursue her career.
After the divorce and moving to New York, she met high-profile Vogue editor Diana Vreeland, who declared her designs "absolutely smashing". She had her name listed on the fashion calendar for New York Fashion Week, and so her business was created, specially for her invention he knitted Jersey “wrap dress”
Philosophy
Diane’s goals are always clear, the celebration of freedom, empowering women, and selling confidence through the brand, these ideas also solidified into the DVF Awards to honor other female leaders. These awards are designed to showcase the strength and resilience of a woman … Every honoree receives $100,000 to help with their cause. In 2023 Amal Clooney and Lily Singh received the prestigious award.

Diane’s creative headquarters are in the meatpacking district in Manhattan, inevitably changing New York’s landscape because of her influence, a touch in American culture, and her clothes are available in 70 countries.
