Nigel Barker: From Fashion Photography to Espresso Martinis

On November 16, 2024, I had the pleasure of visiting Central Perk Wine & Spirits, located at 1420 6th Avenue, New York, to meet internationally renowned photographer Nigel Barker. Known for his creative vision and captivating imagery, Nigel is a prominent figure in the fashion world, widely recognized for his role as a judge on America’s Next Top Model, a reality show that aired in over 140 countries. He served as a judge for 17 seasons, alongside Tyra Banks, Janice Dickinson, Noel Marin, J. Alexander, and Jay Manuel.
Today, Nigel is embarking on an exciting new venture, expanding his creative portfolio with the launch of his own espresso martini brand: The Barker Company Espresso Martini.
Career Highlights
Before transitioning to photography, Nigel Barker spent a decade working as a model. He later pivoted to fashion photography, where his work graced the pages of esteemed publications such as GQ, Seventeen, Town & Country, and Nicole Miller, among others. He has also had the privilege of photographing some of the world's most famous personalities, including Taylor Swift, Tyra Banks, Hilary Swank, Paris Hilton, and Reese Witherspoon.

Nigel’s career has spanned a variety of roles in the entertainment and fashion industries. In addition to his work as a photographer, he has served as a judge for prestigious events like the Miss America and Miss Universe pageants, as well as the reality competition THE FACE, which starred Naomi Campbell. In 2016, he hosted the reality show Top Photographer, a six-month competition for aspiring photographers. Even as the founder and partner of Dogpound Gym, Nigel has also contributed his creative expertise to the brand’s advertising campaigns. Additionally, he published Models of Influence, a critically acclaimed photo book available on Amazon.
Over the past two decades, Nigel has consistently pushed the boundaries of his craft, establishing himself as a pioneer in the fashion and entertainment industries.

Beyond Photography: A New Chapter
Nigel’s creativity extends far beyond the lens. He has launched a fragrance line, designed a skateboard, and created a furniture collection. Now, he’s making a splash in the world of beverages with The Barker Company Espresso Martini. Co-created with Philippe Roederer, this sophisticated espresso martini is crafted with Colombian espresso and 6x distilled vodka, offering a refined and elevated experience.
At the event, fans had the unique opportunity to interact with Nigel in person. Gracious and approachable, he took time to engage with attendees and pose for photos, embodying the warmth and generosity that have made him a beloved figure in the industry.
